------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Sheet Metal workers training program in Anchorage has been training workers to fabricate, install and service heating, venting and air conditioning systems, blowpipe and industrial systems; metal roofing, coping and flashing informally since 1955 when the local union received its charter. In 1972, the program received formal certification by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship School Facts
The Sheet Metal Workers Local #23 Apprenticeship Training program is housed in a 2400 square foot facility located on Orca Street in Anchorage. The program employs one full-time and one part-time instructor. Although relatively small in size, the Alaskan sheet metal workers apprenticeship programs compete in an apprenticeship contest put on by the international each year- competing against programs with over 300 apprentices.
